Fun Summer Day at Saddlecreek Park!
Federation of Chinese Canadians in York Region (FCCYR) celebrated post Taste of Asia success by hosting a fun summer picnic day at Thornhill’s Saddlecreek Park (insert address). We welcomed everyone to attend free of admission and had a huge turn-out!
To show appreciation to the volunteers and staff that dedicated countless hours to the organization and planning of the Taste of Asia festival, FCCYR filled the whole afternoon full of exciting activities and performances for the whole park to see! The Red Maple Senior Group provided sensational entertainment, enrapturing their audience with their traditional flower drum dance. Canada 150 activities, sponsored by the Government of Canada enticed children and adults of all ages to participate and play. The popular Canada 150 game, Trivia Race was a huge hit among contestants. Canada 150 themed prizes were given out to participants, such as flags, screen cleaners, temporary tattoos, bookmarks, rubber bracelets and more!
In addition, Richmond Hill’s MPP, Reza Moridi, who co-hosted the event, provided opening remarks.
“I commend Dr. Ken Ng (Chairman of FCCYR and Taste of Asia) for his leadership and his work at the Federation of Chinese Canadian’s Cultural Centre in Markham. In addition, I would like to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary today as well as congratulate Taste of Asia for their success this year, hitting a ground-breaking record of 200,000 festival participants!” said MPP Reza Moridi.
